The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Monday announced the results for the Class 10 Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Class 12 Indian School Certificate (ISC). A student scored top rank without attending any classes.

Kshitij, a resident of Lucknow has secured 98% marks in Class 10 through self-study. He is a student of Gurukul Academy.

In an exclusive conversation with Local 18, Kshitij said that he always studied for 2 to 3 hours at home after returning from school. He had distanced himself from his mobile phone during this time. He has also used social media less. He said, “I did not attend classes during that time. Going to and from classes took a lot of time. In such a situation, one feels tired. So I do not feel like coming home and going to classes again. So after returning from school, I spent all my time studying at home on my own.

Also, Kshitij’s father Himanshu Bhushan and his mother Anamika are very proud of his achievements. Kshitij is the only child in his family. The parents always kept their son away from the world of social media.

Kshitij shared that he thought it was best to meet friends and chat with them to reduce the pressure of exams and stress during preparation. After spending some time with friends, he felt relaxed and after that, he started studying again.

He further said that the only tip for children appearing for exams this year is to study at home every day. When you come back from school, it does not matter how many hours you study. But keep memorising as much as you read every day. That way, when the exam comes, you only have to go through all the topics once. That will prepare you well. Stay away from social media, then you can achieve good percentages.

The pass percentage for Class 10 was 99.47%, with 2,42,328 out of 2,43,617 students passing the exam. In Class 12, out of 99,901 students who appeared for the exam, 98,088 passed the exam, making the pass percentage 98.19%. Girls performed better than boys: 99.65% of girls passed the ICSE exam compared to 99.31% of boys and 98.92% of girls passed the ISC exams compared to 97.53% of boys.
