Another factor in the sound of a brass bell is its weight, which influences the speed at which the clapper travels and the intensity of the vibrations it produces. A heavier bell will have a slower speed of travel and a greater intensity of vibrations than a lighter bell.
A curved mouthpiece on the inside of a brass bell also contributes to its sound. The shape of the curved mouthpiece helps to focus the sound waves, which makes it more powerful and richer.
